About Marci Rich

Marci RichIn a career that spans more than 20 years, I’ve worked both sides of the editorial and PR aisle. As a writer, blogger, and journalist, my ability to think like an editor has proved invaluable. As a media relations specialist, I understand the professional demands of journalists—what they need to help them tell the story they’re trying to tell—and I’m sensitive to the deadline pressure under which they work.

At the heart of it all is this: A gift for storytelling. That, and my consummate professionalism, is where my editors and clients benefit.

Among the publications in which my blog posts, essays and articles have appeared are the Huffington Post; FIELD; the Richmond Times-Dispatch, for which I’ve written articles about Sissy Spacek, Sally Field, and Michael Gottwald, the producer of Beasts of the Southern Wild; the Chronicle-Telegram (Elyria, Ohio); Silver Kris (Singapore); the Oberlin Alumni Magazine and Oberlin Conservatory, the magazine for the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, which I also edited for 10 years. In 2012, the Huffington Post honored my blog, The Midlife Second Wife, by naming it one of the top seven blogs for readers over the age of 50. My blog posts also appear on the website for the Katie Couric show, Katie.com; BlogHer; HumorWriters.org; Better After 50 and Midlife Boulevard, among other sites. I’m a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Oberlin College, where I won the Academy of American Poets award. My poetry has appeared in FIELD, Timbuktu, Synaesthetic and the Abiko Quarterly (Japan), among other journals.

As a communications specialist, I’ve placed stories in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, CBS Sunday Morning, and many other media outlets too numerous to list.
